Think Dubai is only for the ultra-rich? Think again. Here's how to experience the world's most ambitious city on any budget.
Dubai exists to astonish you — whether you arrive in a private jet or a budget airline. The city's ambition is so total, so unapologetic, that it's impossible not to be impressed, whatever your budget.
Free & Cheap Dubai
The Dubai Fountain show at the base of the Burj Khalifa runs twice nightly and costs nothing. The Dubai Frame gives you a perfect view of old and new Dubai for AED 50. Al Seef and Dubai Creek offer free waterfront wandering.
Mid-Range Dubai
The Burj Khalifa observation deck (Level 124) runs about AED 149. A desert safari with BBQ dinner costs AED 150–200 per person. The Dubai Museum of the Future is genuinely mind-bending for AED 149.
Luxury Dubai
Brunch at Atlantis The Palm's Friday spread is a Dubai institution. Pierchic, a restaurant on a pier extending over the Arabian Gulf, is peak Dubai dining. Skydive Dubai offers a tandem jump over the Palm Jumeirah.
When to Go
November to March is peak season: temperatures are perfect (22–28°C). Avoid June–September unless you enjoy 45°C heat. The Dubai Shopping Festival (January–February) adds enormous value.
